Polar Route

I am unlikely ever to be more
Than a visitor now, lifted off the plane
Geometry of France to cruising altitude,
Silent shadow skimming Scotland,
The North Atlantic’s printed waves.
Far below—can that be Baffin?
Home—you could miss it so easily.
