Friends of Writers welcomes you to a live reading to honor the recipients of the 2025 Larry Levis Postgraduate Stipend. This year’s readers will be Whitney Dangerfield (F’ 25) and Lizzy Beck (P’ 20). The reading will take place online on September 15th at 7 pm ET. Registration is required.

The 2026 Levis Postgraduate Stipend will be open for submissions starting September 15th through November 1st 2026. Two stipends, one in fiction and one in poetry, are given to support graduates of the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College who are completing first books. Please review the eligibility criteria on our website. Each award will be offered to a writer in the amount of $5,000.

Lizzy Beck
Lizzy Beck lives with her family in Western Massachusetts. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in The Adroit Journal, The Beloit Poetry Journal, Pleiades, Rhino, Tinderbox Poetry Journal, and elsewhere. She is a 2020 graduate of the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College, a 2025 Edith Wharton and Straw Dog Writers Guild Writer-in-Residence, and a current Yiddish Book Center Translation Fellow. Whitney Dangerfield
Whitney Dangerfield has worked as an editor at The New York Times and The Atlantic, and a digital editor at Serial and This American Life. She is now the Publications Director at the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University. Her nonfiction writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and National Geographic, among other publications. She holds an MFA in Fiction from the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College and an MA in Creative Nonfiction from Johns Hopkins University. She is working on a novel called You Don’t Belong Here. Originally from West Virginia, she now lives in Brooklyn with her family.
