“The Art of Juggling,” by Dinah Berland (Poetry ’95)

The Art of Juggling

It doesn’t take long to master, like conjugating
the verb to besoy, eres, es, somos, son. Pretty soon
you don’t even have to think about it—the balls

rise and fall of their own accord. Did you see how
the full moon sank into a bank of clouds this morning?

You can read the rest of this poem in Berland’s chapbook.
