Reine Marie Melvin’s (fiction ’10) novel THE BETRAYED won two major national book awards: the Philippines’ National Book Award as well as the Palanca Grand Prize for the Novel The Palancas are considered the country’s most prestigious literary award.

The prize, which celebrates the Scottish writer Alastair Reid, is the publication of a pamphlet set by Scottish poet and publisher (Dark Horse magazine) Gerry Cambridge.

Dilruba Ahmed’s (poetry 09) poem, “Phase One,” was selected by Major Jackson for inclusion in BEST AMERICAN POETRY 2019. The poem originally appeared in ASIAN AMERICAN LITERARY REVIEW.
